Dongmen Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Northwest corner of Jianxi. The name Dongmen Fm derived from the Dongmen Sandstone named by Wang Zhuquan (C. C. Wang) in 1930 and was renamed as the Dongmen Formation by the Jiangxi Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1974 (In: Geology of Jiangxi Province, 1982). The typical section is located in Dongmen, Henglu, Wuning County, Jiangxi Province.

Lithology and Thickness
In the naming area, the Dongmen Fm is dominated by a suite of grayish green to grayish white quartzose sandy conglomerate and pebbly sandstone, with more than 40 m of thick to mega-bedded quartzose sandstone at the base. There, the Dongmen Fm is about 161 m thick.
Near Renjiapu in Xiushui County, the Lower part is composed of dark gray to grayish green coarse-grained arkosic sandstone intercalated with fine sandstone, siltstone and mudstone. The Upper part consists of grayish green medium-to thick-bedded fine sandstone, siltstone and mudstone, locally with chert. The thickness varies from 450 to 500 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The base unconformably overlies the underlying Shangshuangjiaoshan Group or the Luokedong Group.
Upper contact
Indicated on stratigraphic column as overlain by the Nantou Fm (latest Cryogenian; Marinoan).
